Photos from the latest day trip

Here are some photos from our latest day trip outside of Cambridge (mainly for the benefit of family and friends back home - sorry this is rapidly turning into a travel blog!).  We went to Framlingham Castle (built in the Norman period and playing a significant part in some Tudor history) and Sutton Hoo (which was an ancient Anglo Saxon burial ground, discovered by excavations in the 1930s).

We could walk around the castle walls on this one - Lydia found that part particularly appealing!

We also explored around the outside of the castle, which I think the older three enjoyed the most. There is something pretty exciting about being able to imagine you are laying seige to a castle:

Here are Dave and the kids in front of the burial mounds at Sutton Hoo. Not much to see except grass as one of the kids said, but coupled with the museum and maps it was very interesting!

In this photo you can see Tranmer House and one the burial mounds in front. (The owners of Tranmer House owned the land and initiated the archaeological dig.) You can go inside the house, which has been preserved as it was in the 1930s. I felt a bit like I was in an Agatha Christie novel at that point!
