We made it safely to Cambridge, which is a huge relief! The flight over had a few challenging parts but on the whole was better than I expected after worrying about it for months.
I was surprised that the Sydney to Singapore leg (only 7 hours) was the worst and the second leg (14 hours) was quite good. We had broken our journey up by staying overnight in a hotel at Singapore airport which made all the difference for the second leg. The main negative of the second leg was in the last twenty minutes when Elsie started (suddenly and violently!) vomiting on the descent into London - the poor girl was completely exhausted.
Needless to say, we were all very happy to reach our house in Cambridge after such a long and tiring journey. I was so grateful that a friend of ours had been so kind to open the house for us, receive our online grocery order and bring us a yummy meal to enjoy on our first night - thank you Emma!
Our first day in Cambridge was memorable, with it snowing on and off for most of the day. We went for a walk through the snow into the centre of Cambridge (an easy 15 minute walk) in the afternoon. We had to set up a bank account in there anyway, but it was a good way to stay awake until evening (still struggling with the jet lag!) and exciting to start getting to know the place where we will be living for the next 6 months.
Here are some snow photos, for those who are interested:

Lovely pics!! You don't look jet lagged at all :-) Hope you continue to settle in well. How lovely to arrive to snow! I'm impressed the rabbit is still outside!
Glad you arrived safely, are starting to settle in and enjoying the snow. Praying you feel at home very soon.
