In yesterday's post, I promised I'd let you know about a new giveaway on this blog which would help us all be a bit more deliberate about Christmas this year. My idea is pretty similar to a giveaway I did about the same time last year - an advent giveaway.
Like last year, I thought we could share ideas for advent calendars and/or Jesse trees. This year, I'm happy to extend it to another Christ focussed tradition that your family might have at Christmas as well. In order to enter you need to email me with a bit of a blurb about you advent calendar / Jesse tree / tradition with a photo. My hope is that in pooling our ideas, we give each other some inspiration. And since it's already mid-November, it might give you a bit of an extra bit of motivation to get started before December sneaks up on us. I'll publish all of them over the month of November, and on the 6 December I'll pick a winner out of a hat (it's not a competition for the best advent calendar, it will be random!).
The advent calendars do not have to be fancy - you can even make them out of toilet rolls I'm told, so anyone can do it! If you want some extra inspiration Ally has compiled some good designs, and here are some that I've come across in the past. You might like to look in the archives for last year's entries as well.
Now for the prize. As with last year, I'll be giving away a Christmas decoration handmade by my friend, Ally. This year, the design is going to be different - and I'll publish a photo once Ally has published some on her blog. But for now, here is a pic of her tree decoration from last year to give you an idea of how beautiful it will be!
