This term
Wednesday, 21 October 2009
School holidays have just finished for us. At this point, I usually do a post where I tell you all the things I'm planning to blog about this term.
But this term I've decided to try something a little different and not plan ANYTHING.
That doesn't mean that I won't be blogging most days still, but I have been doing some re-thinking about my blog over the holidays and have decided that I need to be less structured about the whole thing, and let it breathe a bit.
One reason is that by the end of last term, I began to feel like blogging was a chore - like a 'job' I had to do and fit around my other responsibilities. But over the holidays I feel I have gained a bit of clarity on this - and I can see a bit more clearly that my blog is not a job or even a responsibility. I want to continue to do it, but only in ways that help me think about how to live for Jesus in all the other areas of life: wife, mum, neighbour, friend, Sunday school teacher... I need to do all those things in way that honours Jesus if my blog is going to be helpful for me - or anyone else.
So, I have decided not to plan a lot of big series this term, but to see what my life throws up - and blog about that. I will do 'Missional Motherhood Month' again this November now it is an annual tradition (and I'm pro-tradition!) but I'm relying on you to provide the posts for that one, so maybe it doesn't count anyway! And of course, Monday wouldn't be Monday without a bit of poetry - so you can expect 'Poetry Monday' to continue.

Sounds good Nic.
Hooray for you!
There seems to have been a bit of this happening lately...bloggers deciding not to be held captive by their blogs. Which is wonderful.
So have a great term and enjoy the fresh air as we continue to enjoy hearing what you have to say.
Sounds uncannily familiar ... We should start a "Society for the Protection of Overwhelmed Bloggers"! :)
